Bridgford Ready To Eat French Toast Review [Prepper Food Storage]

When it comes to my bugging in food supply, I don’t like to store a lot of freeze dried foods. I’d prefer to get foods that still have a long shelf life, but that are foods that I would normally eat everyday. Like canned foods, rice, beans, etc.

So when it comes to breakfast food items, it’s pretty difficult to find a good selection of ‘normal’ food that I can store for my bugging in food supply.

I’ve done a review of the Bridgford BBQ Sandwich in the past and it was pretty tasty. So when I saw this french toast version, I figured I needed to try it so that maybe I could have another breakfast option!

Packaging:

As seen above, it comes in a pack of two and they are individually sealed, which is really nice. So if I wanna just eat one, I don’t have to open the whole thing and then somehow store the leftovers. Storing leftovers in an emergency or disaster isn’t ideal, since the likelihood of electricity to properly store the extra food, isn’t guaranteed. Plus, there’s my husband and I, so having two, he eats one and I eat one. Soon our baby girl will be eating solid foods and I gotta start storing food for her, too! But I still got another few months before I have to do that.

How does it taste?

As for the actual taste test, to get right to the point, it tastes like a soft poptart. It doesn’t taste like you might expect traditional french toast to taste like. That isn’t a bad thing! It’s just different. Definitely edible, especially during an emergency or disaster. It has a strong cinnamon taste with a little ‘jelly’ inside the soft bread. There’s not a whole lot of ‘jelly’ (I call it jelly for lack of a better term…suppose I could call it ‘filling’ but I like jelly better), but it gives it a nice texture breakup.

Keep in mind, it is supposed to be a ‘ready to eat sandwich’, not just a piece of bread like regular french toast would be, so I think they were creative in how they presented it.

Conclusion:

It has a 2-3 year shelf life, which is great. I really like all of the Bridgford products, especially these ready to eat sandwiches. I found it at Walmart, but they aren’t at all of the Walmart’s, only some of them, so you may have to do a little searching. Of course, their website will have a list of places where you can buy it from.

I’d give this a 7 out of 10. If you’re looking for more breakfast food items for prepping, these are definitely an option!
