5 Of The Best Places To Buy Ammo Online

With everything going on in 2020 with protests, unrest, division and the upcoming elections, now is a good time to think about upping your ammo supply.
When the store shelves are empty, there’s a plethora of places to buy online. But we also have to keep in mind that in high demand times, such as election years, there may be a decrease of ammo in general. If you find a good deal, GET IT, don’t wait! Because chances are, even if you come back an hour or two later, it’ll be gone. This has happened to us more times than I’d like to admit.
First, a few answers to common questions:
How much ammo do I need?
Let me answer your question with a question, how much money and storage do you have? There’s no right or wrong amount of ammo. It completely depends on how much money you’re able to spend on ammo. Try to space it out; buy 500 rounds of 9mm one month and the next month buy 500 rounds of 223. Or whatever rounds you need. But you get the point, space it out based on your available budget.
What type of ammo should I buy?
What type of guns do you have? I believe it’s unrealistic to buy bulk ammo for every single different kind of caliber of gun that you own, that can not only get pricey, but also unnecessary. I’d say pick your top 3 guns and buy ammo for those. For us, we buy 9mm and 223 because the guns we rely on the most take those rounds.
Can’t I just reload?
Definitely! Reloading is awesome. There is a bit of startup costs and overall knowledge on how to reload, but over time, it’s definitely worth it, especially for SHTF situations. Here’s a great article over at SHTF Blog about getting started with reloading.
Here are my top 5 favorite places to buy ammo online:
AmmoSeek.com
You’re not going to buy any ammo from this site, instead, you enter in what type of ammo you’re looking for and it finds all the places online that are selling it. It’s an amazing search site. It shows you the type of a ammo, price and a direct link to buy it. Begin your search there.
AmmoSquared.com
This is an ammo subscription box service. Pick your caliber options, how much and how often you want to receive ammo and viola! Ammo will be shipped to your door every month for an affordable price and without even having to think about it. It’s a great way to stock up.
LAX Ammunition
We’ve purchased from LAX a few times and have always been happy with our order. Great prices, too.
Ammunition Depot
Can’t go wrong with ammunition depot, especially their bargain bin! They have really great prices on a huge variety of ammunition and deals.
Ammo Freedom
Their website isn’t the most user friendly, but they have some good deals.
When it comes to buying ammunition online, really do your research. Make sure it’s a reputable company. Look at the brand of ammo you’re buying. Look at the grain. Look at the price per bullet. Look at the casing. Make sure you’re getting exactly what you want.
Also, just because somewhere says they sell ‘cheap’ ammunition, doesn’t make it so. Do your due diligence to find the price and quantity that you’re looking for. Buying in bulk, 500-1000 rounds can make it a lot cheaper. But it also depends on the brand, where you buy it, etc. Lots of varying factors when it comes to how ammo is priced.
If you live in certain cities or states, there will be restrictions on ammo delivery to your door. Instead of it being delivered to your door, they would have to be delivered to an FFL. These states might include California, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Check your local laws. Regardless, though, if the site sees you enter in an address in a particular state, they will require that it goes to a registered FFL or other approved dealer. You must also be over 18 years of age to buy ammunition.
I’d suggest starting your search with AmmoSeek.com and from there, finding a few favorite and reputable sources. I’m not sponsored by AmmoSeek or any of the above websites, I’m just sharing my personal experience.
Good luck!
