The 10 Best Keychain EDC Items – Everyday Preparedness

I love EDC items. I carry items on my person, keychain and in a backpack. Yeah, I carry a lot. My EDC in general is usually a lot more extensive than most because I have two children and I like to be over prepared.
Sometimes, though, I don’t need or want or can’t carry my backpack, but I will still be carrying whatever I have in my pockets or on my keychain.
I always have my keys with me, so having a few items on the keychain just makes sense.
I don’t think your keychain should hold 20lbs of stuff, but it can have a few items to help you everyday and in survival situations.
Here are 10 EDC items to consider adding to your keychain:

Bic lighter holder – There are some creative ways to carry a bic lighter these days. A friend of mine made the one pictured here, but you can get a Kydex holder for it. Or you could get a bic sleeve. You could even make your own by placing wire on it then wrapping it with tape.

Ferro rod – A ferro rod can definitely come in handy! Why not have one on your keychain?

Flashlight – I usually carry a flashlight in my pocket, but it never hurts to have one on your keychain! I like the Streamlight MicroStream and while it’s not technically a keychain one, you can make it a keychain. I like it because it takes traditional batteries while most other small keychains take the watch batteries which are expensive to change out.

Pepper Spray – I’m a believer of having a variety of ways for self-defense and pepper spray is a great option, especially on your keychain.

Waterproof pill case – I love these little waterproof pill cases because they can hold tinder or water purification tablets or…pills! They work well.

Survival dog tags – I love these survival dog tag cards from Grim Workshop. They are perfect for the keychain.

Swiss army knife – I can’t tell you how many times I’ve used my keychain swiss army knife. It’s come in handy so many times.

Paracord – You can never have too much paracord. Always nice to have a little bit close by in case you need it.

Tweezers – These keychain tweezers are great for tick removal and splinter removal. They are small but they work amazingly well!

Sunscreen – Yep, I carry sunscreen on my keychain. Sunburns are bad!

And as a bonus, in case you live somewhere that has banned the use of plastic straws, they have a keychain straw!
What are some items that you carry on your keychain?
I carry a small whistle as well as a cpr face shield on my keys because I am cpr certified. I also keep a first aid kit in both our vehicles with basic wound care and pain and allergy meds and my asthma inhaler. As a mama with a 1 year old I’m always carrying a diaper bag so I keep sunscreen and baby meds amd extra clothes for baby, myself, and hubby in the bag along with another inhaler.
What about a P-51 U.S. army can opener?

Over prepared, lol. Yep, that’s me too! I suppose it’s because I had four kids only four years apart, with twins in the middle. I got used to being over prepared. Personally, as a mother, I don’t think you can ever really be over prepared 😊 These are all great suggestions! Thank you!
I agree, I don’t anyone can ever be over prepared…but there’s also a fine line between hoarder and prepper, lol. Thanks!
