Book Types For Your Prepper Library – Rogue’s 31 Days To Readiness [Day 8]

Have you seen day 1, day 2, day 3, day 4, day 5, day 6 and day 7?
If you know me you know that I’m a big fan of books. As preppers (and people!), there’s so much knowledge that we can acquire and when it comes down to it, sometimes books are the best forms to give us that info.
Physical books are ideal, but of course, eBooks are a good addition to your collection. I can carry a lot more knowledge in digital format, but there are certainly drawbacks to digital books. For the majority of reference books, I’ll either print out info, or I’ll get a physical copy of the book so I’ll have it instantly available.
Let’s get right down to it.
Here are the best types of books we should have in our prepper library:
- Medical
- Medicinal herbs
- Fitness
- Emotional
- Cooking
- Oils and vinegars
- Preservation; canning, dehydrating, etc.
- Wild edibles
- Essential oils
- DIYs
- Hunting
- Fishing
- Firearms
- Self-sufficiency
- Outdoor skills
- Alternative energy
- Raising livestock
- Gardening
- General reference guides to preparedness
- Security
- Self-defense
- Situational awareness
- Self-help
- Home repair
- Car repair
- Bike repair
- Lock picking
- Crafting
- Beekeeping
- Hiking or backpacking
- Camping
- Knives/tools
- Fiction (for entertainment purposes)
Of course, the list of the types of books can go on and on. Even if you can’t do a specific skill right now, you may be able to do it in the future, so having the book available when you need it, could be invaluable.
I especially love to read books from various authors. We all have something to share, different perspectives, so I highly suggest gaining different types of advice and knowledge from a variety of authors.
Don’t worry about drudging through an entire book all at once. It’s ok to read a page here and there. And some books don’t need to be read from cover to cover, but rather, only picked up when you a recipe or a bit of help or advice is needed.
Take reviews with a grain of salt. Everyone’s at a different points in their lives, especially with their preparedness. While it may be ‘too simple’ or even ‘too advanced’ for some, it may be perfect for you. Take a chance. And if you don’t like it (which has happened to me very few times), then give it away.
What other types of books do you have in your prepper library?
See you in day 9!
