Prepping Gift Ideas for Kids

Getting kids involved in preparedness is a great joy. The holiday season is a great time to add a few things to their overall preparedness.
You know your child best and how they’ll like a certain gift or activity. This gift guide isn’t supposed to name off everything there is out there, but instead give you some ideas to work off of. Your child might also be too young or too old for certain ideas. The ideas below are pretty general and no very specific to age or gender.
Here are some gift ideas to get your kids more prepared for 2020 and beyond:
Shemagh – everyone needs a good shemagh
CamelBak – Kids as young as 2 can start carrying their own water
Swiss Army Knife – Everyone needs at least one swiss army knife in their life
Prepper Pete Prepares – Great resource for kids to learn about prepping
Jake and Miller’s Big Adventure – Another fun way to teach kids about preparedness
CRKT Nathan’s Knife Kit – Great way to teach kids about knife safety
Pint Sized Prepper Projects – Fun way to teach kids about preparedness through action
Headlamp – Everyone needs their own headlamp
Piggy Bank – Teach them financial preparedness early
Toys, Tools, Guns and Rules – Teach them about firearm safety early and often
Other ideas that don’t require a physical gift:
- Take them camping
- Teach them how to make fire with flint and steel or bow drill
- Go bug hunting
- Teach them about wild edibles
- Show them how to can or dehydrate
- Build a bug out bag or other kit with them (with items already on hand)
- Get them into self-defense classes
- Head to the range
- Go hunting
- Go fishing
- Teach them how to use a sling shot
- Build a debris shelter
- Build shelter with a tarp
- Teach them to sew
- Teach them about financial preparedness
And so on and so forth. There are so many ways to teach our kids how to be prepared and sometimes they don’t require a ton of money at all. Sometimes it’s just going people watching or talking to them about strangers, reading to them, going for a walk, collecting trash and generally how to navigate this world and be prepared.
