Prepping Gift Ideas for Non-Preppers

Do you know someone who you’re trying to encourage to get prepared? Maybe they’re on the cusp but they just need a little extra push? Maybe they just need you to sit down and help them? Or maybe they just need some direction?
Whatever the reason is for them not getting on the preparedness train yet, gifts, and some patience, will help encourage them to get prepared.
Here are some tips and gift ideas for the non-prepper-who-you-want-turn-into-a-prepper in your life:
Make them a kit –
- Make them an EDC survival kit in an altoids tin.
- Maybe make them an urban EDC kit that has things like chapstick and nail clippers and other everyday necessities.
- You could also put together a gardening kit.
- Make some sort of ‘intro’ kit and give it to them. The other day I saw someone make their friend a potty bucket for emergencies. Lots of clever and useful kits to make our friends and loved ones.
- Make sure to include any instructions and a list of contents with any of your kits.
Get them something simple –
- You could also simply get them a pre-made first aid kit
- Get them some fire starters (everyone likes fires, right?)
- You could also get them an external battery charger for their phone
- Get them a swiss army knife for their keychain
- Maybe a flashlight for their keychain or vehicle
- Give them something like the potty packs
- Get them some Mountain House
Give the gift of knowledge –
- Books, books and more books! Pick your favorite prepping books and gift them.

Make them something homemade –
- Can some jam or some fruit
- Dehydrate some marshmallows or fruit or jerky
- You could even make some homemade soap or candles
Give them a “funny” gift –
- When I say “funny”, I mean something like toilet paper! Everyone could use toilet paper and us preppers tend to hoard it. You can call it “emergency toilet paper”.
Don’t overwhelm them –
- We may love everything there is about preparedness, but when you’re trying to get someone involved, you need to introduce them slowly. Give them an opportunity to absorb a little bit of information, learn to use a couple items and start seeing the benefit of everyday preparedness.
- Have they dropped any hints about something kinda prepping-ish related that they’d be interested in? Many things could be preparedness related, even if it’s something like a financial planner or piggy bank so they can save money or get out of debt.
It’s important for us to get as many of our friends and family on board with preparedness as possible. Whether it’s everyday preparedness or preparing for the zombie apocalypse; be patient and take it one step at a time.
